| All CANCAP employees must receive training prior to deploying overseas in accordance with Department of National Defence (DND) policy. The aim of the training is to ensure that our employees are prepared for the conditions and hazards associated with international operations and to provide essential information that will enable them to perform their duties safely and efficiently. SNC-LAVALIN PAE INC in consultation with The Canadian Forces Joint Support Group has developed a comprehensive PDT course that will give you the information and confidence to proceed on mission. Operational, logistic and security issues will dictate where the training is to be delivered. Currently employees deploying to Afghanistan must receive training before they arrive in theatre. In this case training is usually delivered in Kingston, Ontario, Canada over an 8 day period PDT covers a range of subjects that include training on personal and camp security, safety programs, employee benefits, HR policies, company procedures and the theatre of operations or mission area. Military experts provide practical exercises and instruction on Mine Awareness, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense. The company, using subject matter experts, provides training on First Aid and CPR, Fire Safety and a number of orientation sessions on procedures, Quality Control and working in a deployed camp. We also provide you with a cultural awareness package, which introduces you to the mission country, its background and local customs. Last, we walk you through the travel and HR components of how to get to your new job. |
